Endowments minister Gade Venkat Reddy on Friday claimed the Congress was only in favour of a second states reorganisation committee to study the formation of Telangana state and it never promised in its manifesto to 'concede' a separate state. He said the party never deviated from its promise either in 2004 or 2009. "Our party's line of argument has always been very clear and specific. We have never kept anybody in the dark on the issue. In 2004, the party said it recognises the growing emotions and aspirations of the people of Telangana and the common minimum programme of the UPA government also echoed the sentiments of the people of Telangana and stated that the UPA government would consider the demand for the formation of a Telangana state at an appropriate time after due consultations and consensus ," he said.
The minister, however, admitted that the Congress today was vertically divided over the issue and each of the sides had their respective arguments lined up in support of their claims. Venkat Reddy also reminded that AP was formed only after a wide ranging consultations. He said he favoured an expert panel comprising eminent jurists because of the ongoing mistrust and suspicion among various stake-holders .

Make your T-stand clear, BJP tells Cong
===============================
The BJP on Friday demanded that the Congress party make its stand clear on the Telangana issue before January 5 if the talks were to become fruitful and find a solution to the current crisis in the state. Talking to the media, state BJP president Bandaru Dattatreya said that the though Union home minister P Chidamabaram had convened a meeting of all political parties on the T issue at New Delhi, there was no clarity on the agenda.
He said while the political parties should make their stand clear in regard to bifurcation of the state, the government too should tell the participants what it wants. "Whether it was for smaller states and creating new T state or not." The BJP, Dattatreya said, stands by Kakinada resolution (one vote, two states) adopted in 1997 and was of the opinion that development would be possible only in smaller states."
Criticising the chief minister for stating that major industries including film industry was moving out of the state, the BJP president demanded the government to present a white paper.

GANDHI GIRI- NAIDU GETS BOUQUET WITH T STICKER
=============================================
TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday decided to call leaders of all levels from each district from all the three regions and take their opinion on the issue of bifurcation of the state. This exercise would help the party in working out its strategy at the January 5 all-party meeting convened by Union home minister P Chidamabaram in New Delhi.
The meeting where the TTD leader took this decision was preceded by a curious incident . Party politburo member E Dayakar Rao took everybody by surprise by presenting a bouquet with a sticker of Jai Telangana to Naidu before falling at his feet urging him not to change the party stand on separate state.
Later, talking to media, Rao said that he had never touched anybodys feet for either a ticket to contest elections or for any post in the party. But for the sake of Telngana state, he fell at Naidus feet. Naidu held detailed discussions with party leaders from Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar districts . He is learnt to have asked them to express their opinion on the present political crisis and their opinion on bifurcation of the state. In next three days, Naidu would be meeting leaders and workers from all the 23 districts.
According to a senior leader, the general thinking of the party is that it is time for TDP to take on Congress which has been accusing it of taking a U turn on the issue.

CASES AGAINST STUDENTS - KK SLAMS CMs DOUBLE STANDSRDS
=================================================
Congress Working Committee member K Keshava Rao on Friday charged chief minister K Rosaiah with being indecisive and adopting double standards in dealing with cases booked against the students who have been agitating for separate Telangana.
Talking to media, he asked the chief minister not to make delay in withdrawing cases in the guise of technicalities. Even the Union g ove r n m e n t had announced that the cases would be withdrawn . If the government withdraws the cases, it would help in easing the tensions in the region, he said. Rao said Rosaiah had assured Union home minister P Chidambaram that the cases would be withdrawn. Based on the assurance, Chidambaram made a statement in Parliament stating that the government would take measures in that direction. "Now , you say that you have not received any letter from the Centre . This amounts to breach of privilege of the Parliament ," he said.
He said, "Centre cannot advise the state, in writing, to withdraw the cases. Since the law and order is a state subject , Centre cannot instruct the state directly," Rao added. Taking objection to the advise given by the chief minister to the students to meet the governor on this issue, Rao said it amounts to abdicating his responsibility and was giving an impression that governor is ruling the state," he added.
Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao, minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy, senior Congress leader R Damodar Reddy, Prof M Kodandaram, convener of Telangana Joint Action Committee , also urged the state government to revoke the cases booked against the students of Telangana
