ఏర్పాటు దిశలో తెలంగాణా - నెలాఖరు తర్వాత కసరత్తు?

Following the Centre’s announcement that it will initiate the process for the formation of a separate Telangana, TRS leaders are lobbying at the Centre to start the process by the next budget session of Parliament in February. “In the present situation, the united Andhra movement is the main stumbling block in initiating the process for bifurcation of the state. The UPA government has given ample indications to TRS that the process will begin as soon as the united Andhra movement settles down. The Centre is expecting to resolve the issue by this month end,” a senior TRS leader told TOI on Friday.
He said that as per the Centre’s indications to the TRS leadership, the Government of India will start the process in February if all goes well. Professor K Jayashankar, TRS ideologue and TRS senior leader B Vinod Kumar met Union home minister P Chidambaram and finance minister Pranab Mukherjee two days ago where the ministers assured them that the breakup process will be initiated immediately after the united Andhra struggle stops.
“There is no deadline but the Centre will start the process very soon,” Jayashankar said and added that there is no possibility of the resolution being rejected in the assembly. His logic: When the Centre asks for the state government’s opinion, the Congress will also issue a whip to all its MLAs to support the resolution. If they do not, the MLAs will lose their membership from the assembly. From the TRS side, there will be no pressure on the Centre. The Congress leaders from Telangana region have the responsibility to mount pressure on the Centre to resolve the united Andhra movement.

Jayashankar termed the TRS movement for Telangana as a ‘real state demand’ whereas the united Andhra movement a ‘real estate demand’. As part of the action plan, KCR will go to New Delhi in the last week of December to meet central leaders including AICC president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. He will also meet other national party leaders and seek their help to complete the process for a separate Telangana at the earliest. KCR will also expose the volte face by the TDP and PRP on the Telangana issue at every political platform at the national level if they continue to support a united Andhra movement.

Meanwhile, Congress senior leader from Telangana and former minister T Jeevan Reddy met KCR at his home and complimented the latter for achieving his goal.
