With T-tension refusing to go away, even ministers are changing their travel routes in the last minute to avoid backlash from the T-protagonists . Major irrigation minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah and Warangal district incharge minister Ramreddy Venkatreddy, who visited Medaram in Warangal district on Sunday to review the ongoing works for the month-end jatara, took a different route to reach Hyderabad fearing strong protests from Telangana activists and students.
The ministers, who came to Medaram via Warangal took the thick forest area via Mangapet-Manuguru-Khammam route to avoid protestors who have been demanding the formation of separate Telangana. Worried over reprisals from the agitators, Ponnala did not even venture to visit his constituency since the Telangana agitation began a month ago. It may be noted that the Telangana activists have been demanding the resignations of the ministers to prove their commitment to separate Telangana but the ministers were reluctant to resign stating that the high command had initiated the process for the formation of separate T-state .
Earlier, hundreds of villagers protested the action of district collector N Sridhar for visiting the holy Sammakka-Saramma gaddelu (platforms) with his shoes on. The tribals took a strong exception for the action of the collector and demanded an unconditional apology from him.
