T leaders rally behind Venkat Reddy - Terming Show-Cause Notice A Partisan Act, They Warn Of Serious Consequences :-
Describing it as selective and unfair, Telangana organisations including political parties cutting across party lines condemned the show-cause notice issued by the Congress high command to IT minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy for his alleged anti-chief minster remarks and warned of serious consequences in case any action is taken against him.
The Congress high command had issued the show-cause notice to Venkat Reddy on Friday night for describing chief minister K Rosaiah as a representative of only the Andhra region and not the entire state when the latter said that the Telangana agitation was driving away industries and the Tollywood from the state. The minister was given seven days time to file his reply.
Reacting to the high commands action, Venkat Reddy said he was in receipt of the notice and would react only on Sunday. I received the notice and will respond to it on Sunday, he told the media after meeting PCC president D Srinivas and chief minister on Saturday.
But the entire region was up in arms against the action taken by the Congress on the minister. When Rosaiah was severely criticised by the Andhra leaders after the death of YSR, no action was taken against them. Many ministers defied the CM when there was a campaign in support of making YSRs son Jaganmohan Reddy as the chief minister. But, no action was taken against the offenders. But a notice was promptly issued to Venkat Reddy . This is grossly unfair and indicative of the negative attitude that the region is being subjected to by all, said MLAs and MLCs from the Telangana region.
About 30 MLAs and MLCs met on Saturday and urged the party high command to recall the showcause notice as they felt it would further stoke the unrest in the region . They included MLAs K Jana Reddy, Ch Muthyam Reddy, GandraVenkataramana Reddy, G Prasad Kumar, Basavaraj Saraiah , R Damodar Reddy, P Sankar Rao, Bikshapati Goud, MLCs A R Amos, K Yadava Reddy, T Bhanuprasad, S Indrasain Reddy and B Mohan Reddy. They said the decision was vindictive and meant to drive a wedge among the Telangana leaders.
Talking to the media after the meeting, Yadava Reddy said any action against the minister would only widen the gulf between the chief minister and the Telangana leaders. M Kodandaram, convener of the all-party Joint Action Committee (JAC), said the show-cause notice was an insult to Telangana. Komatireddy never criticised the chief minister. He only contradicted the chief minister when he was attempting to portray Telangana agitation as being anti-industry , Kodandaram said.
BJP senior leader Ch Vidyasagar Rao said the notice clearly shows the double standards employed by the Congress. It ignored the Andhra leaders who attacked the CM, but has taken action against a Telangana leader who spoke for a just cause, Rao told the media.
TRS legislature party leader Etela Rajender said the showcause notice to minister Venkat Reddy was a wrong decision. The chief minister should not indulge in partisan activities. Is giving a factual picture on the status of film industry a crime committed by Komatireddy, Rajender asked. Even the joint action committee (JAC) of Osmania University students condemned the notice as vindictive.
